I just had spacers put in my mouth. 12 total, 3 in each quadrant. If you’ve never had the joy of braces, spacers are the little rubber bands they put between your teeth before attaching the actual hardware. They are used to spread the molars apart enough to be able to get various metal bands in and around your teeth later.
It feels like I’ve got food stuck between every one of my teeth. And biting sucks because it forces the bands farther into the region between my teeth causing pressure on the tooth itself. Hopefully I’ll get used to it soon.

i got spancers last thursday; but instead of getting just spacers (8 metal ones) i also got the brackets put on my teeth. i was in sooooo much pain!!!!!!!!!!!! i cant eat anything without pain or a spacer coming lose. im afraid they are gonna fall out!!!!!!!!! but after a couple days im almost used to it now. good luck to yall!!!!!!!!!
one thing that helps with lose braces; especially metal ones; is to put a little bit of wax over the ends to keep them down.

I got mine on last week and again today… It didn’t hurt so bad until now! All I had for lunch was some Oreos because they could melt in my mouth.
ow…. i got spacers yesterday, on both sides. so i can’t even eat. all i can eat is macaroni and icecream. they hurt so bad!!! braces better not hurt as much… this is bad enough, luckily i only have the rubber ones – it basically feels like you are continuously having like 6 teeth pulled out!!!!!

im only getting top braces so i have two spacers on each side of my upper teeth. i was so excited to get them b/c my teeth are hideous and its like the first step in getting braces, everyone @ school told me they would kill but i was like w/e im just glad im getting them. omg, the pain hurts sooo bad its unbelieveable. I tried to chew a pice of chicken (like one of those pre made chicken strips you put in the oven) never again. at least this is motivation to get on my diet haha
all ive eaten since i got them in today is juice and that piece of chicken. bgah now i have to wait a full week until i get my braces. and its fucking spring break. this blows
i got spacers like… 5 hours ago and they really dont bug me that much. they kinda hurt when they flossed them in and afterwards, but now its actually okayy. maybe it was the two advils i took. idk. everyone has been saying that it will be really bad the next morning… hm… i guess i will just have to wait and see!
I got four spacers in today and have previously had them in a few weeks ago for the impressions. They do not hurt whatsoever and i’ve eaten a cereal bar. I get my braces next week.
I got spacers today (4) and they don’t really hurt but I think they’re giving me a headache (but then again, I did hit my head on a wall). I can’t wait to get them out… I hate the feeling of things in my between my teeth. I get braces on Thursday c: Can’t wait to get these things off.
I got my spacers put on yesterday. only one of my teeth hurt and it is one without A SPACER In it. the tooth hurts like a bitch. i ate a hamburger did not hurt one bit. nothing really helps except for advil. nothing made by orajel works so do not use orajel

i got my spacers yesterday(the blue rubber kind) and the orthodontist was a little rough putting them in, and it felt funny when i tried to bite down but it didn’t hurt… i even went to taco bell with my mom and ate lunch afterwards without much trouble besides a funny feeling..
then maybe 3 hours later WOW, it was really bothering me a lot. that evening i couldnt even eat RICE or PASTA!! i drank some chicken noodle soup and i had to rip the little cubes of chicken with my tongue cause my teeth hurt too much to chew! now today i’m just slurping noodles. i have 8 spacers, 4 on each side and 2 on top 2 on bottom in the molars, but even though they’re only in the back, i cant even chew with my front teeth!! they’re like pushing my FRONT teeth OUT its so stupid. advil didn’t work and neither did excedrin. ice cube numbed it for a while but what am i gonna do? chew with ice cubes in the side of my mouth?!

O AND I ALSO ATE SOME MEAT LIKE THE KIND THAT U CAN RIPE UP INTO LITTLE STRIPS AND IS SOFT AND I ATE IT WITH NO TROUBLE JUST BEING CAREFUL NOT TO GET THE MEAT STUCK IN THE SPACERS AND STUFF. Ok, so I went to the dentist two days ago, and thhe dude scaled my teeth or somfin , he basically just took that sharp hook thing and picked, and picked, and picked. God, I hurt. And now today I got eight rubber spacers. THEY HURT LIKE CRAP! I got them on, and It kind of hurt, but then I drove home and it was really hurting, and then I fell asleep watching CSI (without eating anything… I should have while I had the chance) And now I’m in serious pain. It kind of helps to stick out my jaw like an angry dog LOL But it just hurts more wen i relax my jaw. And now my teeth aren’t fitting together right sort of? Like My mouth has shifted to the right some… It’s weird and painful. I get braces next Wednesday- two day b4 halloween :((((((((((( and Its sucks to be me right now. I want to rip the frikkin things out. I’m afraid that ones gonna break and Ill swallow it. that is exactly the sort of thing i would end up doing, too…

OH GOD these things hurt like HELL. Who knew such little rubber bands could cause so much pain? I’m not trying to scare anyone who may be getting them. Just as advice to any unlucky soul who also has to be put through this torture: applesause helps. A lot. I’ve been living off of applesause, pudding, and Snapple for 3 days now, and when I get them taken off in another 3 days… I get braces. Wish me luck!

I’m literally crying right now because of my (6) blue rubber band spacers it hurts so bad and it’s 5:00 am! They hurt a ton and anything I eat hurt all my teeth are sore and in pain and I’m thinking this is so not worth it Id rather have a bad mouth. And my ortho just said “It won’t hurt a bit” and when we asked her what to do just invade it did she said don’t worry it won’t hurt… So now I’m hear I have the blue rubber band kind and their killing me my whole mouth is SUPER SORE including every single tooth and anything else in my mouth. I don’t know how I’m going to survive braces!!!!!!! CAN ANYONE HELP ME CAUSE THESE HURT LIKE ANYTHING AND ID RATHER DIE!
Hey everyone…I just got spacers on 2 of my teeth. They used those litle blue ones and when they put them in, it felt like she took a wrench and was trying to pull out my teeth. After that I was fine, although it feels like my bite is misaligned now….like I can’t bite down normally and my teeth feel a bit sensitive. I attempted to eat some grapes and It just felt really weird so I stopped. I had a devil dog which wasn’t that bad and some ice cream which was a nice relief. As far as pain goes, my gums are just a bit sensitive and only hurt when I bite down hard. I’m really hoping I don’t wake up in the middle of the night in agony like a lot of people on here. I have to keep them in for a week, then I get braces. Good luck to everyone and I’m hoping this will all be worth it in the end.

didn’t know it would hurt this much with the spacers alone. every night i wake up and my teeth feel really sore. Just yesterday i tried to eat pizza wow it hurt alot. i was crying for a long time. they are sooo ahhhhhhhhhhhhh!
it was like she tried to break tooth. and to make things even worse i had to get 8 spacers.
so yeah my friends were complaing they only had 2. nothing to cry about. 8 now thats hell.
but its all worth it. Advil does not work. but its all gonna pay off. and my teeth are gonna b awesome.
I’m getting spacers in a month. I went to my orthodontist yesterday and they took molds (records) of my mouth and in a month I’m getting spacers. And so far i’m getting pretty scared from what other people are saying. I don’t know if they hurt or not. And I don’t know what I can eat or drink when i get them.
I don’t even think i’m gonna eat at all because i’m so scared of what’s gonna happen.

OMG. They hurt so darn bad. I’m actually at school right now. I’m so hungry! I haven’ been able to eat many things. It really sucks. I haven’t taken any pain killers yet, but I’m going to need them very soon. I can’t stand the pain any longer! I got them on Tuesday 9th… I get my braces on the 17th. The day right before school ends! I know it sucks.

i got spacers put in yesterday at 5:30pm (blue rubber ones, (8),. It was fine when he put them in , just a tad uncomfortable. I at things like the soft part of bread, baked beans(ewwh) although i had to like, mush it up with my tongue and the roof of my mouth! i know, disgusting! the next morning, i woke up soo early cos my teeth were KILLING me. my gums still ache now!!> my tip is not to clamp your teeth shut! all ive been eating marshmallows all day today!
I had all 4 wisdom teeth removed at the same time. They were so impacted that they were growing into my jaw. I had local anesthesia in the surgery. The surgery itself wasn’t really too painful (besdies the shots to numb you up). It’s after the surgery when the medication goes away that you will experience A LOT of pain and swelling in the cheeks.
I just spacers today…6 rubber and two metal. I can’t bite down completely, no turkey burger for me. Eating soft foods and lots of V8 and VFusion juice. Im nervous about the pain when I wake up…we’ll see 🙂

After the appointment when I got home I tried eating pizza it hurt so much I decided to scrap off the top instead gross I know:( I took an advil before going to the mall it worked for a while then the pain was unbelievable I was ready to pull them out. If you just got spacers get a milkshake it helps with the pain. I didn’t think it was going to hurt this much my front teeth are really sensitive I had to take two advils last night for the pain sleep on your back and have your face looking at the wall because when you put your face on the pillow it puts pressure on the top molars. I’m getting Braces in 3 day:)

I got my spacers on this morning at 9:00 and I have felt no pain, is that normal? Also, two of my spacers have already ripped and I’ve only eaten soup and soft dumplings, is that normal? Or does all this mean that the spacers weren’t put in deep enough? Thanks!

Braces suck! I got my top on they just put spacers in for my bottom teeth. I hate it!!!!!! Like I can’t eat anything and I want to just pull them it freaking hurts worse than getting your braces on. Wish me luck i’m getting my bottom braces next wensday. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO medicine can help with this pain
Ugh, I got spacers like 10 hours ago. And at first it didn’t hurt, just slight discomfort. I had lunch (pasta) and it just felt funny. So when I got home.. OW OMFG THE PAIIN. I CANT EVEN EAT RICE IF I BITE DOWN IT HURTS. My teeth are already shifting and it feels so bad. I sure hope it doesn’t hurt worse in the morning
