Why does Amazon tell you Super Saver Shipping will take forever, especially when it usually ships way before the time they tell you it will.
For example, yesterday I ordered:
Shipping estimate for these items: February 21, 2005- February 21, 2005
Delivery estimate: February 24, 2005- February 28, 2005“Colgate Phos-Flur Anti-Cavity Fluoride Rinse, Cool Mint – 16 oz”
Health and Beauty; $9.99
And yet it shipped today, February 14th, a full week before it was scheduled to ship.
I understand that the free shipping probably cuts significantly into Amazon’s bottom line (and therefore they’ll do a lot to get you to pay for shipping), but can they at least not lie about the ship date by a week!?
Update: The other items I ordered (3 books) were shipped the day after (Feb 15th). All arrived on Friday, February 18, almost a full week before the predicted arrival time.
Well, I don’t think that they are lying. Think of it in similar terms as a non-profit does. When NPOs send their mail they are granted the chance to mail their stuff for free, but the trade off is that it only gets mailed when they have a light load. I’d imagine that the same is true for Amazon when they are sending via Super Saver Shipping.
But, I still don’t get why you are complaining about them shipping something early, it just doesn’t make much sense to me. I’d imagine people are usually happy to see their stuff gets shipped faster to them. It is the whole mentality that they got it to you faster. Think about when you go out to eat and you are told that you have to wait 15 minutes for a table when then you are called up to be seated after only 5 minutes. Do you say that you’d like to wait another 10 because that is what they told you? Or do you take the seat? Personally, it’s good business to tell people it will take longer then deliver it before you said. It sure beats saying it would be shipped today and then actually shipping it in a week.
hey i have a simmilar thing goin on.. they always ship early. but the thing says estimated delivery the 19-23, and im thinking that ups ground doesnt take that long, expecially for a phone. can you lemme know where you stuff is shipped from? because if its in the region ill expect it before the weekend. (i really want my new phone)
You weirdo. Why were you buying fluoride rinse of Amazon.com anyway? Why didn’t you just go to Target?
It was cheaper ($9.99, vs the ~$11.99 you would spend at Target) and this way I knew I wouldn’t forget to buy it as I have on the last 3 trips to Target.
I am going to the Mall of America tomorrow to go buy a new keyboard… that’s another story.
