I’m soliciting advice for living options next year. Right now the only places I’ve really considered have been Middlebrook New Addition and Riverbend Commons.
- Middlebrook:
- Benefits:
- I’d know a bunch of people living here
- It’s pretty affordable
- I’ve already lived here once
- Negatives:
- It’s on the west bank and all of my classes are on the east bank
- The rooms are still pretty small
- Benefits:
- Stuck with dorm food for another year
- Riverbend:
- Benefits:
- Bigger rooms
- A kitchen so I could cook
- Closer to all of my classes
- Negatives:
- More expensive
- I’d have to learn how to cook for myself
- Benefits:
- Wouldn’t know as many people living there
Does anybody have any suggestions? Off campus housing would certainly be an option as well.
Having lived in both places, i can say that without a doubt they are equal. you will find the apartments in riverbend to be more like small small rooms than actual apartments for the most part. if you know more people in Middlebrook, live there. Riverbend is very isolaing in terms of people not talking to eachother.
The only reason I lived there was because I was a 6th year senior and I really really really wanted out of middlebrook, but didn’t really want to move off campus. But if i had more friends there, I would have stayed. As it was most of my friends lived in Dinkytown or Como, and my girlfriend lived in Riverbend. If you still have the chance, stay in Middlebrook.
