Lost in Translation

Lost in Translation must be the best movie I’ve seen all year. I saw it at one of the Southdale Theaters with my parents tonight… just got back. It was funny, engaging. I felt a connection with the characters. The main girl was pretty cute in a charming sort of way. And she walked around a bunch without pants on. Bill Murray isn’t much to look at but he did a really good job. The movie poked a good amount of fun into the language and culture barrier between English and Japanese. I won’t bother telling you all the details to spoil the movie, but suffice it to say that I think y’all should try to go see it before it leaves the theaters. If you need somebody to go with, let me know… I’d be more than happy to see it again.

Master & Commander

So Ann Marie talked to me online about seeing that movie. I didn’t think it looked to great so I was unenthusiastic. Anyway, deciding not to go (for dumb reasons I guess), Ann Marie called me from the theater to check that I wasn’t late. I told her that I wasn’t coming. Meanwhile my mom overheard and informed me that the movie got good reviews. Oh well. Realizing that I was a bum, I decided to try my luck at getting into the movie. So I drove over to AMC, but sure enough it had sold out. Great. I guess I’ll be spending the evening with my family. Here’s to being stupid.

Thanksgiving

Well Thanksgiving went well. I love Turkey! Yummy! Today I went to the dentist to have my teeth cleaned… it went well except for the fact that I don’t floss. Oh Well. I worked the rest of the day (need to make some money and stay on the payroll). The break has been nice but I’m looking forward to getting back to school.

I’ve been using MP3Sushi to listen to the music stored on my computer at the dorm while I’m at home. It was a breeze to setup and works well. I just love the way OS X handles executables with the Blah.App really just being a folder that you can store lots of files and subprograms in.

I hope everybody else has had a great thanksgiving and best of luck on everybody’s finals that are coming up!

Bridge

Bridge is a wonderful card game. Except nobody in the dorms ever wants to play/knows how. At least I’ve found some people who will play 500 .. which is still kinda fun. Whatever, at least it’s not Euchre which is the worst card game ever.

Oh, so I play bridge on Yahoo! Games occasionally, which is fun, but people there suck. I mean, you don’t open 1 Spade with 7 high card points.. you just don’t.

Sigh. I should go study for my math test.

Spring Semester

Yay for Tuesdays and no class until 11:15am! Woot woot! Oh, and Thanksgiving break is so close I can almost taste it. Midterm tomorrow in Math :bummed:. Oh well, there’s not much I can do about it.

So some of you may (out of some sick curiosity) be interested in what classes I’m taking in the Spring:

  • Math 5285H – Honors Algebra II – MWF 9:05-9:55
  • Math 5251 – Codes,Fields,Curves – MW 3:35-5:00
  • Chem 2302 – Org Chem II – MWF 10:10-11:00
  • Phys 2601 – Quantum Phys – WThF 12:20-1:10 & T 1:25-2:15
  • Phys 2605 – Quantum Phys Lab – T 12:20-1:10 & T 2:30-5:30
  • Mus 3410 – U Band – MTh 6:30-8:00pm

Or you might want the graphical layout:

Which all in all amounts to 19 credits. Not to mention 5-10 hours of research per week and maybe some tutoring.

Quidam

I LOVE Quidam (by Cirque Du Soleil). That was the coolest show ever. And it serves as great background music when you are trying to do something else, like figure out your work schedule over thanksgiving break (sigh).

Oh, and I need to mention that Enigma is the coolest!

Thanksgiving Break

I’m totally psyched for Thanksgiving Break. The semester is really starting to wind down and I’m having a hard time staying focused. Math midterm on Wednesday —- arg. Then a week off (from midterms) and two more midterms during the last week of classes.

Hope everybody has a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Dumb things at 1:00 AM

So it was like 1:00am and Dave (roomie) and I couldn’t sleep. Dave wanted to have a snowball fight, so I told him to go find some more people and I’d consider it. Anyway, nobody was awake in the nearby vicinity so we put on some clothes and head to the lobby. Nobody wants to join us, but we’ve both got some excess energy to kill.

Anyway, we get the hairbrained idea to run from Middlebrook across the bridge and back. In pajama pants, a t-shirt, and a hat. Needless to say it’s REALLY COLD OUTSIDE (15 degrees Farenheit, with a windchill of 0 degrees). Anyway, I make it to the bridge and am already freezing cold, so I decide to run across the bridge in the enclosed area (a little warmer and no wind). Dave, however, being the tough guy decides to do the whole thing outside. How he still is alive is amazing.

Moral of the story: It’s cold outside.

Weblog

So I figured I start a weblog. But it’s 12:30 am on a Sunday night (well Monday morning and I’ve got class in 8.5 hours and I should sleep). So you’ll have to wait for tomorrow for more.
