iChat Slowness

I can’t figure out why iChat is so slow nowadays. The window is unresponsive and takes a couple of seconds to do anything like scrolling or focusing the window. This is unacceptable to me. I’ve tried rebooting with no avail. It might be because I have a large number of contacts, but even so this is unacceptable given that I own a top of the line PowerMac.
Does anybody have any idea, or will I be forced to switch to Adium which is looking quite stable and feature rich at the moment.

Brad I think I have solved the iChat problem. The problem is that you own and use a mac. That is all.

I have been using Adium and I love it. It has not crashed on me since I got it and I have really liked what I have seen from using it.

Ryan-
I just installed Adium and my first impressions have been good. The interface isn’t as “beautiful” as iChat’s—I’ve grown fond of the brushed metal sides, but beyond that it seems to work great. I also enabled the Webkit view (by disabling the “Standard Message View” plugin in the Get Info window in Finder).
Looks pretty, eh?
